The Gambia local based team, CHAN, has cancelled their international friendly match against their counterpart Senegal (CHAN) team which was initially scheduled for today, Friday 10 June 2022.
According to sources, the cancellation of the test game was as a result to have more chances to prepare more and also to use the national topflight clubs teams to prepare more ahead of their qualifiers against Guinea Bissau.
The CHAN team has this week played their fourth local test match with the latest coming against Hawks FC played at the Late Ousman Saho Field in Old Yundum on Tuesday.
The Gambia local based team, CHAN, were beaten 1-0 during their fourth test match ahead of the preparation for the CHAN Afcon qualifiers.
Sankung Sillah scored the only goal in the game for the inform Hawks FC side who are topping the current GFF league.
The Gambia will begin its quest for a maiden place in the African Cup of Nations for local-based players with a double-legged qualifier against Guinea Bissau
The first leg of the qualifier will be played in Gambia between the weekend of 22nd, 23rd and 24th July 2022 with the return leg in Bissau between 29th, 30th, and 31st July.
The winner over the two legs faces Mauritania for a place in Algeria and that begins on the weekend of 26th, 27th, and 28th August and the 2nd, 3rd and 4th September 2022.
