Inadequate Medical Equipment, Human Resources Affecting FajiKunda Health Centre-DOC

Fatima N. Bah, deputy officer in charge of Faji Kunda health centre has highlighted major human resource and insufficient medical equipment at the health centre, adding the centre lacks functioning theatre and medical doctors.

Speaking exclusively with The Voice, she said: “the health centre lacks space for RCH services including pharmacy and mental services.”

She further revealed  that the health centre also   lacks orderlies, security support staff, supplies and supply system, drug and equipment, food, sundries, uniform, stationery, fuel and furniture, and overstretched ambulance services.”

According to her, they want quality and affordable health services for all by 2025 while their mission statement is to provide the highest standard of health care services to their catchment areas with a very professional, well-disciplined and motivated committed team.

“Our coverage on the catchment areas is 303504, children from 0-11 months is 6000, children from 0-5 years is 40000, children from 9 months to 15 is 90000 and finally women of child bearing age 4400 respectively,” she added.

However, she said: “Under the purview of Western Region One is managed by an SMT headed by the OIC 100% central government funded with support from MRC, family Beyai foundation and also Central Bank and others.”

“Our services offered are out-patient and accident emergency, in-patient, reproductive and child health moreover tuberculosis and leprosy control, laboratory services and scanning services,” she said.

According to her, the health centre was able to introduce a scanning unit and establish accident, emergency and human resources, especially in the site of nurses.

“Expansion of the labour ward, work is in progress and availability of a new ambulance and a generator is needed, adding that most of the ANC services are free except for scanning.

Construction of ablution site and the RCH unit site fencing of the aeration of notice board in progress. In addition, we were able to have wireless access in all the units, availability of stationeries printers and a slit lamp machine eye unit, installation of gene except machine at the lab,” she continued.
