The Bundung Cardi Court has been accused of injustice in its ruling on a ownership dispute of Fajikunda Youth Centre, by one Fatou Ndow.
Speaking exclusively with The Voice, Baba Jabbi, councillor of Fajikunda, said: “the centre has been in use by the community youths for more than 30 years until recently one Fatou Ndow from Talinding who took the matter to Bundung Cadi court claiming that her father is the rightful owner of the said plot of land and cadi court ruled in favour of the Lady.”
“The court said Fatou should be compensated or returned the land and now the youths and the community are annoying about the issue they want the authorities to take action if not they will not allow any body to take the land. And during our discussion the Alkalo of the community, ward development committee chairman was present too and the former councillor and the entire youths of Fajikunda were all present at the meeting,” he added.
According to him, the court proceeding was going on since last year but the ward development committee (WDC) being the custodian of the centre did not inform Alkalo, councillor and no residents of Fajikunda is inform or call to attend the court.
“How can a Cardi court rule on this, this way? Since early 1980s the youths occupied this Centre even her father didn’t claim the land before his death until recently the lady appeared. We wrote to the Minister of Local Government and Lands while we are also trying to meet the Youth and Sports Minister also to intervene,” he added.
