The rejuvenated Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) FC have recorded their seventh win of the season after defeating Brikama United 1-0 during a game played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau on Saturday.
Sariyang Gitteh scored the only goal for the Soldiers 20 seconds after the restart, leaving the Sateba boys, Brikama United fans and technical team disappointed.
GAF seems to have found their lost redeem after struggling during the first round of the league, while Brikama United now suffered their fourth defeat of the season.
The Soldiers under the leadership of Adama Jatta overall recorded 7 wins, 9 draws and 7 defeats after 23 matches, while the Brikama United side under the guidance of Modou Lamin Nyassi overall registered 9 wins, 10 draws and 4 losses after 23 games.
The result moved GAF to 8 position with 30 points, leveling with Banjul United, while Brikama United occupied 3rd position with 37 points.
Elsewhere, Marimoo FC played a goalless draw against Steve Biko during a match played at the Late Ousman Saho Field in Old Yundum on Saturday.
The Manjai-based team, now recorded their tenth draw of the league, while the Bakau-based team, registered their seventh draw of the season.
Marimoo FC under the guidance of Momodou Jallow overall collected 7 wins, 10 draws and 6 defeats after 23 games, while Steve Biko under the leadership of Coach Atnant Musa overall registered 8 wins, 7 draws and 7 losses after 23 encounters.
The result levelled both teams on 31 points, with Marimoo sitting ahead on 4th position, while Steve Biko occupied 5th position.
At the time of going to press, yesterday, on Sunday, Waa Banjul were taking on Gamtel FC at the Late Ousman Saho Field in Old Yundum; Falcons were playing against Hawks FC at the Independence Stadium in Bakau and GPA before GPA taking on Wallidan during the late encounter at the stadium.
Earlier, Elite United held Banjul United to a goalless draw during their week-24 fixture played at the Late Ousman Saho Field in Old Yundum on Friday.
Elite United now registered their seventh draw of the league, while Banjul United registered ninth draw of the season.
Elite United who are coached by Yaya Manneh overall registered 5 wins, 7 draws and 11 defeats after 23 games, while Banjul United, coached by Sheikh Adama Joof overall recorded 7 wins, 9 draws and 7 defeats after 23 matches.
The result maintained Elite United at the rock bottom (16th) position with 22 points, while Banjul United occupied 9th position with 30 points, leveling with GAF.
Fortune FC also played a 1-1 draw against Team Rhino during a game played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau on Friday.
The Petroleum boys took the lead in the 23 minute of the first period, before Bakary Ceesay restored purity for Team Rhino in the 77 minute of the second period.
The Farato-based team, Fortune now recorded their sixth draw of the season, while the Nema Kukung-based team, Team Rhino collected their twelfth draw of the league.
The defending champions, Fortune FC coached by Jean Joof overall collected 7 wins, 6 draws and 10 defeats after 23 games, while Team Rhino under the guidance of coach – overall registered 4 wins, 12 draws and 7 defeats after 23 games.
The result put Fortune FC to 11th position with 27 points, while Team Rhino occupied 14th position with 24 points.
