The Gambia Scramble Federation (GSF) is seeking funding to organise a national tournament scheduled for 25th to 26th June 2022 at Woodpecker resort, Banjulinding in West Coast Region.

The organising committee of the competition is soliciting urgent support or sponsorship to enable them successfully organise the two days national scramble tournament.

About twenty (20) players will participate in this weekend’s competition.

The objective of the competition is to revive the Gambia Scramble Federation and to also select the best to represent the Gambia at the international Scramble competition taking place in Zambia next October 2022.

Modou Sowe, a member of the Gambia Scramble Federation who also doubles as the Secretary-General Association of Clearing and Forwarding Agent, said the competition aimed to bring back the Scrabble game alive in this country.

“I want for the Gambia to be part of all competition such as the competition that was held in Accra, Ghana last year in which the Gambia was represented by five competitors,” he noted.

According to him, the Gambia team performed very well and the association is planning to send the same number of people to Zambia in   October 2022.

He further said the weekend competition is meant for the selection of the team to represent the Gambia, while he called on Gambians to support sport and the fact is all geared toward contributing towards national development.
