Ebou Jarra, head coach of Gamtel FC stated that beating The Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) is very good in their quest to winning the FF Cup title.
The Gamtel FC Coach, Ebou Jarra was speaking in an interview with reporters after defeating Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) 2-1 during their round of 16 FF Cup game played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau on Tuesday.
“This win is good for us. We are in the FF Cup competition to win it but also we don’t have the strongest side. We are hopeful that we can reach far,” coach Jarra further said.
Coach Ebou Jarra, whose Gamtel side currently sit 8 position with 31 points said reaching this level is a bonus, noting that their aim is to sustain their position in the league and also go for the FF Cup title.
“Sustaining our position in the league is more important to me than chasing the FF Cup. I took over Gamtel FC when we were having difficulties last season. We are still having difficulties this season, ranging from finance amongst others.”
Coach Jarra expressed hope of doing well in the FF Cup but added that their main focus is to sustain their position in the league.
For his part, Adama Jatta, head coach of GAF said he was not disappointed with the result, while applauding his players for fighting spirit during the game.
“We created more chances which we couldn’t capitalize. I am not disappointed because they happen to be lucky, which is why Gamtel FC won.”
After their elimination from the FF Cup, Coach Adama Jatta noted that now they will shift their attention to finishing third position in the league.
The Gambia Armed Forces, who are now eliminated out of the FF Cup competition, currently occupied 9th position with 31 points after playing 24 matches.
