I-Care Optics, a private eye care clinic on Wednesday conducted free eyes test for 70 Immigration personnel at the headquarter of The Gambia Immigration Department in Banjul
Muhammad Mumstad Alam, proprietor of I-Care Optics stated that the gesture is part of the clinic’s outreach program meant to establish and strengthen relationships with institutions and organizations, adding that the outreach program also accorded the clinic to offer free eye care examination to the institutions it visited.
According to him, I-Care Clinic conducted seventy (70) eye tests and examinations for Immigration personnel during its visit to the institution, disclosing that out of the 70 free eyes test conducted 5 officers were normal with 20/20 vision and 2 with cornea ulcer and 2 with cataract, while 61 are suffering from a refractive error like myopia, hypermetropia, and astigmatism and presbyopia.
He used the opportunity to call on other organizations and institutions to come forward so as to benefit from such a gesture, adding that the eye clinic is also open to signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with institutions and organizations that would like to get its services at affordable prices.
Dr. Alam also urges Gambians to be wary of the use of wrong eyeglasses, lenses, and spectacles as well as prolonged use of mobiles, laptops, and televisions, noting that the use of these electronic gadgets is responsible for most eye problems in the country.
Deputy Director-General Gambia Immigration Department, Hulay Jallow, commended the management and staff of I-Care Clinic for such a worthwhile gesture of offering free eye examination to Immigration staff, adding that the gesture will go a long way in helping staff to know their eye status as well help them to restore their visions She promised that Immigration Department will do all it can to help the clinic to grow from strength to strength while calling on all and sundry to visit the clinic for their various eye problems.
The free eye examination was witnessed by senior officials of the Gambia Immigration Department, staff of I-Care Optics among a cross section of the community in Banjul.
