Gunjur United have progressed into the semifinal of the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) FF Cup after eliminating Gamtel FC 2-0 during the quarterfinal game played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau on Tuesday.
The Coastal Town boys became the first team to book a place in the last four of the FF Cup after eliminating the Telecom Giants.
The Second Division side currently sit 8th position in the GFF Second Division League with 41 points after 27 games.
First Division League side Gamtel FC who occupied 12th position with 28 points in the standings are now being shown the exit door out of the FF Cup tournament.
It was double delight for Gunjur United FC as their head coach Babucarr Bojang, was awarded the Coach of the FF Cup Round of 16 by the Gambia Football Coaches Association.
Elsewhere, the late FF Cup quarterfinal encounter between Wallidan and Elite United was called off after 29 minutes due to power outrage at the Stadium.
Meanwhile, the GFF competition department is yet to schedule a date for the rescheduling of the game.
At the time of going to press yesterday, Brikama United were taking on Immigration in the earlier quarterfinal game, before Kanifing East took on Red Hawks in the late match at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.
