The GFF/CAF U15 school football tournament week six (6) capped off on Sunday afternoon as the tournament got closer to its final stages at the Late Ousman Saho Football Field in Old Yundum.
New Yundum boys accumulated the highest goal scoring on the Saturday fixtures after a thumping 6-0 win over St Martins. Bintang triumphed 4-0 over Penyem whereas Nema Kunku and WYCE shared each a point after a 1-1 final score in the boys category.
Apparently, Scan Aid continued their winning streak with a 3-1 victory Latrikunda whilst St Augustine and Jersey ended goalless.
Meanwhile, fixtures for Sunday featured Somita thrilling a 3-0 win over compatriots Babylon, and Sukuta grabbing a 4-0 comfortable win over Brikama in the boys category.
In the girls category, Latrikunda and Kanuma shared a point after a one all draw whereas Mindaw’s brace was enough to earn them the maximum three points against Kanifing East in the Girls category.
Matches continue next weekend with the final week of the group stages to be played on Saturday before a semifinal on Sunday.
The event brought together hordes of football fanatics cheering the children. Notably, The Brikama School team and organizers are thrilled with the presence of the school principal who was spotted on the sidelines cheering the team and giving words of encouragement and support which serves as an inspiration to many authorities.
