 GPA, Stakeholders Conclude Relocation Settlement Over Muslim S.S.S

The Management of the Gambia Ports Authority (GPA) and Stakeholders of Muslim Senior Secondary School have concluded a negotiation arrangement for the relocation of the School to Brusubi Phase 2 at the final meeting held to sign the Settlement Agreement between the GPA and relevant stakeholders on Tuesday 19th July 2022 in Banjul.  

 

The stakeholders present at the signing of the settlement agreement meeting were the School Management, Banjul Committee of Muslim Elders, Banjul Muslim Association, and the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (MoBSE).  

 

The Settlement Agreement was signed by GPA Managing Director Ousman M. Jobarteh and Babou Mbye, Chairperson of Board of Governors Muslim Senior Secondary School and witnessed by Adama Jimba Jobe, Deputy Permanent Secretary Ministry of Basic Secondary Education on behalf of his Permanent Secretary, Louis Moses Mendy.  

 

Speaking at the end of the meeting, GPA Managing Director, Ousman Jobarteh, thanked all the school stakeholders for their acceptance to relocate the school and ceded the property to the GPA for port expansion. 

 

MD Jobarteh said this speaks volumes of the stakeholders’ patriotism as the port expansion project is in the best interest of The Gambia.  

 

On behalf of the school authorities, Board Chair Babou Mbye hailed GPA Management for the elaborate and progressive engagements that resulted in the relocation of the school to a whole new environment. He expressed optimism that with this arrangement in place the school will work towards regaining its lost glory and build on the gains registered. 

 

Other speakers included the Principal of Muslim SSS, Lamin K. Marong, and DPS Adama Jimba Jobe they echoed similar sentiments, noting that the school at its new location would continue to serve its quota to nation building. 

 

Officials from all parties also expressed appreciation to the President of the Republic, HE Adama Barrow, for the continued support and advice for the possible relocation of the school, his alma mater.
