Sainabu Mbaye and two others charged with manslaughter, remanded

Police have finally charged Sainabu Mbaye with manslaughter along with Cherno Mbaye and Kibbely Dambelly.

The trio appeared before Principal Magistrate Omar Jabang of Kanifing yesterday afternoon with charges of manslaughter and negligence and was subsequently remanded at mile two prison pending the hearing of the case before the High Court.

According to the bill of indictment presented by the police prosecutors, the accused persons earlier this month at various places by an act or omissions amounting to culpable negligence left one Muhammad Mbaye, a two-year-old boy (now a deceased) in a car resulting in his death.

The accused persons could not take their plea and the matter was subsequently transferred to the High Court which has the jurisdiction to hear the matter.

The accused are represented by Sagar Thomas and Cumbeh Gaye.
