Operatives of the Drug Law Enforcement Agency (DLEAG) have announced the arrest and detain of some people including a female and a minor with suspected drugs across the country.
According to DLEAG, five of the suspects were apprehended in the West Coast Region, four were arrested in the Central River Region (CRR), and one was arrested in the Upper River Region (URR) while more suspects were arrested in Banjul.
“A 26-year-old Muhammed Fayinkeh of Sukuta Nema and 18 years old Lamin Sakangko of Yarambamba both Gambian Nationals were apprehended at New Yundum on 22nd July 2022 around 19:00 hours GMT onwards with one hundred and nineteen (119) wraps and some sticks of suspected cannabis Sativa.
“A 33-year-old Bakary Badjie was arrested at New Yundum Traffic Post Checkpoint on the 25th July 2022 around 18:30 hours GMT onwards with four (4) bundles of suspected cannabis Sativa. The means of conveyance was a motorcycle with registration number MC KM 7164 C. The suspect upon sighting the officers refused to stop at the checkpoint. Consequently, he knocked another Jakarta motorcycle resulting in some damage to the motorcycle while the rider sustained bruises,” DLEAG explained.
Also “a 45-year-old Fakaba Sillah was arrested at Yarambamba on 26th July 2022 around 09:30 hours GMT onwards with two (2) bundles of suspected cannabis Sativa. 37 years old Yusupha Krubally was arrested at Banjulinding on 26th July 2022 around 12:30 hours GMT onwards with one (1) big bundle, forty-five (45) parcels and eleven (11) wraps of suspected cannabis Sativa. 22 years old Sarja Bah was arrested in Wellingara, CRR on 23 July 2022 around 13:00 hours GMT onwards with sixty-eight (68) wraps of suspected cannabis Sativa.
Meanwhile, DLEAG said 22 years old Muhammed Camara was arrested at Baja Kunda with 71 wraps of suspected cannabis Sativa while 26 years old Rohey Bah was arrested at Banjul with three wraps of suspected cocaine.
“A 17 years old minor was arrested in Bansang on 25 July 2022 around 12:00 hours GMT onwards with fifty-one (51) wraps of suspected cannabis Sativa. 19 years old Sulayman Jawla and 23 years Amadou Jah were also arrested in Bansang on 25th July 2022 around 13:00 hours GMT onwards with one (1) big bundle of suspected cannabis Sativa,” the report added.
