Basse youth protests, demands Team Kaba ‘must go’

By Arfang M,

A number of youths in the Upper River Region (URR), on Saturday welcomed the tour party of the incumbent Team Kaba campaign team while on their visit to Basse to attend the regional football league final.

The protest youth in the URR region came with their protest signs- Kaba Must Go For Transparent and Accountable Institution, Football is Not for Greater Banjul alone among others.

The Team Kaba led by the incumbent president Lamin Kaba Bajo, continued to preside over the presentation of prizes and other awards to the finalist before proceeding on his campaign meeting with the stakeholders.

“I led a massive protest against Kabba and his team earlier this evening (on Saturday) during the GURRFA 3rd Division Final at the Basse so called mini stadium,” said one of the leaders of the protesters.

According to him, Kabba himself was present at the final and heard their voices that the youths of Basse wanted him to go.

Meanwhile According to reports, a member of the Team-Kaba campaign said the youth were mobilized by opponents but the true situation is that the Upper River Region Football Association (URRFA) supports Kaba Bajo as shown by the nomination they filed for him.

However, a member of the Team Restore Confidence campaign of Sadibou Kamaso said no one mobilised the youths, adding they were adequately sensitized about the failures in the country’s football.
