Ibrahim JS Sanneh, former protocol officer at the State House has announced his desire to run for the Brikama Area Council chairmanship while making constructing a modern drainage system on his priority list.

“As an experienced civil engineer, my main priority is to construct a proper drainage system at Brikama market. There is no proper drainage system at the market, as a result, the water becomes stagnant, and health wise that is detrimental. In that way, the water will move freely from the market,” he said.

He expressed concern saying the drainage system is not adequately handled by the current administration of the Brikama Area Council.

“Some of the women are traveling from a far place with their vegetables and sometimes they cannot be sold at once. Women could store their vegetables to minimize post-harvest loss. I am also concerned about the vendors sitting on the ground to sell. Their plights are Important because they are taxpayers too,” he added.

According to him, he would work to reunite the people of the West Coast Region, “I can unite people if an independent. Anybody can support you as an independent candidate ” Parties with strong grassroots structures are also putting up candidates.”

He lashed out at the current leadership of Brikama Area Council saying the amount of revenue collected should reflect on developments.
