The Gambia Civil Aviation Academic (GCCA) has booked their place into the final of the West Coast Regional Male Third Division League after beating Gambinos 9-8 in a post-match shootout following a 1-1 draw in the regulation time during the second semifinal game played at the Brikama Box Bar Mini-stadium on Wednesday.
Dawda Jawara scored for GCCA in the 11 minutes of the game, just before Lamin Fatty quickly restored for Gambinos United in the 13 minutes of the game.
Speaking in an interview with the Voice Sports, Lamin K. Sanneh, one of the technicians of GCCA expressed delight for their victory, noting that there are so many good players in the West Coast Region, who he added that “if well-groomed” they will dominate The Gambia national side.
GCCA will now face Berewuleng in the final of the West Coast Region 3 Division League tournament.
“Playing against Berewuleng United, who has been in the third division league for a very long time will be a very tough encounter,” said technician Sanneh.
For his part, Evan Minnaert, Coach of Gambinos praised his boys for their performance but blamed the central referee (Musa A. Sey) for sending one of his players with two yellow card bookings.
He went on to express hope that the referee will up his games for the future.
