Fatmata Kamara, a 29-year-old Sierra Leonean woman has been arrested by operatives of the Drug Law Enforcement Agency with ten sachets of Tapentadol Hydrochloride, a controlled drug.
DLEAG said she was arrested in the Upper River Region, adding each sachet contains 10 tablets amounting to a cumulative total of one hundred (100) tablets.
“Fatmata Kamara who was traveling from Sierra Leone (to the Gambia) onboard a commercial vehicle was apprehended with the said controlled drugs concealed in a black plastic bag containing groundnut paste on the 3rd August 2022 around 12:45 hours GMT onwards at Nyamanar, URR. She is presently in custody while officers further probe her matter.
“In a similar but separate development, DLEAG operatives stationed in the Kanifing Municipality apprehended one Lamin Jatta, a 25 years old adult male Gambian National with twenty-five (25) parcels of suspected cannabis Sativa. The said incident happened at Latrikunda Sabiji on the 3rd August 2022 around 21:00 hours GMT onwards,” DLEAG said.
Meanwhile, DLEAG said its operatives stationed in the West Coast Region apprehended one Tijan Sillah of Brusubi on the 5th August 2022 around 01:45 hours GMT onwards with five (5) wraps of suspected cannabis ruderalis (skunk) at Binnish nightclub.
“Further search of the suspect’s vehicle upon their arrival at DLEAG’s New Yundum field office led to the discovery of twenty-one (21) wraps of skunk cannabis hidden in the backseat of his dark blue Volvo vehicle with registration number BJL 7268 T. The said suspected skunk cannabis was each placed in a plastic bag. Sixteen (16) wraps were concealed in a yellow plastic cup with a white cover, four (4) wraps were concealed in a white glass cup and one (1) wrap was concealed in a medium plastic bag. He is presently in custody as operatives’ further probe into his matter.
“In a separate development, operatives stationed in the Upper River Region (URR) arrested 44 years old Yusuf Sowe and 24 years old Kaddyjatou Jallow with some quantities of suspected cannabis sativa on the 4th August 2022 around 21:00 hours GMT onwards at Gulunbuyel village, URR,” DLEAG added.
