Alieu Jagne, head coach of the champions Hawks FC expressed delights after winning the GFF Premier League title after 26 years.

They became champions this season after beating the Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) 3-1 during their week-29 fixtures played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau on Thursday.

Modou Lamin Jarju’s brace and Omar Sarr strike was enough to make Hawks FC the champions of the GFF First Division League.

So this is a special moment for me as the coach of Hawks FC,” he said during an interview with The Point Sports.

Coach Jagne hailed his team for their wonderful performance throughout the season, adding that they were able to achieve this due to the young players they have together with the good motivation of the team.

He added that: “This is a history for the players. We have been playing, trying our luck for this very young team and we finally made it finally.”

Hawks FC, who ended the league last season, fighting for relegation, now became champions.

“This season we prepared ourselves mentally and physically with the aim of winning the league title. This is the ambition we had during the beginning. So we maintained it and now we did it.”

According to him, he’s not surprised about the performance of his team due to the young players they have, adding that the team is very much motivated
