Residents of Kerr Pateh Koreh beg government for good road

The business community and residents of Kerr Pateh Koreh have launched a passionate appeal to the Ministry of Works and Transport to construct a good road to link the Kerewan Farafenni highway via Daru Rilwan to Kerr Pateh Koreh to ease the transportation of goods and services in the areas.

The appeal was launched on Friday following a truck numbered BJL 8096 S carrying goods from Banjul that fell between Kerr Sait Taal and Kerr Pateh Koreh at 5:30 pm en route to Kerr Pateh Koreh of Central Badibou .

Speaking to The Voice newspaper, Ndey Amie Marong, a women representative, Mustapha Barrow VDC Chairman, Modibo Keita of Kerr Pateh Koreh all said the condition of the feeder road from Kerewan Farafenni highway via Daru Rilwan to Kerr Pateh Koreh needs urgent intervention from the authority.

They appealed to the government to help them fix the road to ease the transportation of goods and services.

Momodou Njie, Former Councillor for Salikene ward, and Sulayman Bah a young businessman said the construction of the road would boost the business network and enhance trade.

Kerr Pateh Koreh is a business center it shares a border with Senegal where weekly markets or Lumos are held.

However, during the incident, there was no loss of life or injuries, but rice and other products were destroyed by rain water.

The poor condition of the road has resulted in an annual accident of trucks along the road and with heavy rain,

BabucarJallow the truck driver whose vehicle fell and Wuyeh Camara the driver plying between Kerr Pateh Koreh to other destinations described the poor condition of the road as horrible which is affecting the transportation system.

Modibo Keita VDC members thanked the communities around for their solidarity in assisting drivers whenever they get stuck on the way.
