Narcotic Officer Cross-Examined in Drug Case

NCO2 Tijan Sarr, a narcotic officer attached to Tanji Police Station recently testified in an ongoing drug trafficking case involving Omar Fatty before Magistrate Isatou Dabo of Brikama Magistrates’ Court

Under cross-examination by police prosecutor Nuha Korta, Sarr told the court that Omar Fatty was arrested at Tanji Nema Village with sixty-four (64) pieces of cannabis resin.

PW3, NCO2 Sarr told the court that, the accused thumb printed the weighing certificate on the 20th January 2022, which the accused objected to, and said that, he was not aware of his thumbprint on the weighing certificate.

Meanwhile, Korta told the court that the objection made by the accused person didn’t hold sufficient ground against the weighing certificate. At this juncture, the presiding Magistrate Isatou Dabo ruled that the weighing certificate is in line with section 3 of the Evidence Act, and ordered that it should be filed as an exhibit

Omar Fatty is charged with one count of offence, a charged he denied. According to the particular offence filed against the accused, Omar Fatty on the 18th January 2022 at Tanji Nema Village, West Coast Region of the Republic of the Gambia had in his possession 16 grams and 300 milligrams of cannabis resin prohibited drugs, thereby committed an offence.

The case was adjourned to the 16th August 2022 for hearings.
