Ousman Saidybah, the spokesman for the Drug Law Enforcement Agency has told the Nations Today Television program that one of their operatives was seriously injured in Sibanor after a motorbike knocked him down.
According to him “two days back, there was a case in Sibanor where one of our officers with his class was seriously injured. A PIU officer was providing backup support to our men when this guy on a motorbike knocked him, he brought this boy’s life to a standstill. There are officers who due to injuries they sustained could not make it due to the course of this work,” he said.
He said the Drug Law Enforcement Agency seeks to get its operatives armed amid some dreadful challenges during operations, as it launched an absolute clampdown on drugs and drugs-related crimes. This he said is in a bid to get the country a drug-free state, adding that some of their operatives lost their lives to injuries they sustained during operations in the country.
“I do know that efforts are being made to address these challenges and it is in an advanced stage. The Drug Control Act is being completely overhauled and with this overhaul, there are some gaps that we identified but we are working to bring in different kinds of equipment,” Saidybah disclosed during the program.
