The office of the Minister for Public Service, Administrative Reform, Policy Coordination and Delivery has announced that the nomenclature of the above-mentioned Ministry is now renamed as Ministry of Public Service (MoPS) with effect from August 2022.
According to a release from the above Ministry, the Personnel Management Office (PMO) has been transformed into a Ministry of Public Service under Section 71 (1) of the 1997 Constitution of the Republic of The Gambia.
The new Ministry will now be in charge of the Public Services, Administrative Reforms, Policy Coordination and Delivery/deliveries.
The press release went on to highlight that, Honourable Baboucarr O. Joof is the Minister-in-charge of the new Ministry of Public Service, noting that the renaming of the Ministry is part of the ongoing Civil Service Reform process towards making public services more effective and efficient in terms of accountability, transparency, honesty and equity in policy administration, programme implementation, coordination and governance as per the constitutional mandates of its establishment.
“From now on, all correspondences to the Permanent Secretary (PS), Personnel Management Office (PMO) should be addressed to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Public Service, Quadrangle, Banjul instead of Personnel Management Office,” the release concluded.
