Two accused convicted of drug trafficking

Magistrate Peter Adoh Che of the Brikama Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 29th August 2022 convicted Mattarr Bojang and Ousainou Ceesay of drug trafficking, and they were fined to pay the sums of D75,000 and D50,000 respectively, for having cannabis in their possession on the 8th of March 2022   along Jabang-Sukuta Highway in West Coast Region.

Appearing before the court the two accused, MattarrBojang and Ousainou Ceesay were very remorseful of the charge leveled against them, they wasted no time in court as they pleaded guilty and begged for mercy from the court.

The Police Prosecuting Officer Nicholas Jammeh told the court that Mattarr Bojang and Ousainou Ceesay on the 8th March 2022 along Jabang-Sukuta Highway in West Coast Region were found in possession of cannabis for drug trafficking.

However, Magistrate Peter Adoh Che the accused have voluntarily accepted the charge filed against them without compulsion.”Considering their plea for mercy instead of sentencing them (Mattarr Bojang and Ousainou Ceesay) to three years imprisonment, I hereby fine Mattarr Bojang to pay seventy-five thousand dalasi ( D75,000 ) and in default to pay he shall be in prison for two years and OusainouCeesay shall pay a fine of fifty thousand dalasi (D50,000) and in default of paying he shall be in prison for one year”, Magistrate Peter AdohChe ruled.
