Gambia U-20 team to play Liberia today

The Gambia U-20 team will today, on Thursday, take on Liberia during their second encounter in the ongoing West Africa Football Union (WAFU) Zone A championship in Nouakchott, Mauritania.

The game which is slated for 8:30pm in the evening at the Stade Sheikh Boidiya in Nouakchott, will see both teams coming for a win to consolidate their chances in the championship.

The Gambia Under-20 team under the guidance of Coach Ablie Bojang won their opening game in the WAFU championship after defeating Cape Verde 2-0.

Baa Lamin Sowe scored both goals for The Gambia in the 36th and 74th minutes respectively, to give a bright start to the Young Scorpions.

Their opponent Liberia, who are coached by The Gambian international Tapha Manneh drew 2-2 against Senegal during their opening game.

Emmanuel Gono also scored a brace for the Liberian team, including a glancing header inside the 18-yard box, to reduce the tally.

The Lone Stars who were 2-0 down came from behind to draw two all against the Young Lions of Teranga.

Coach Ablie Bojang stated that they are looking forward to being consistent in scoring goals and also not to lose any games.
