The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) has announced the 2022/23 football calendar after the successful completion of the 2021/2022 season.
“Following the successful completion of the 2021/22 football season, The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) wishes to announce to its stakeholders and the general public the 2022/23 football calendar,” said GFF on its official Facebook page.
According to the Football House, Nawettan season starts from today, on Thursday, 1st September 2022 to 30th November 2022, adding that the Super Nawettan which is part of the Nawettan season will start from 1st December 2022 to 23rd December 2022.
The GFF further added that the National Leagues are set to commence from 4th January 2023 to 2nd July 2023.
Meanwhile, the Super Nawettan tournament was last won by Kombo East after defeating Serrekunda West 1-0 during a game final played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau in December 2019.
Since then, there has not been any nawettan season for the two seasons due to the covid-19 outbreak.
In the National League 2021/2022 season: Hawks FC won the GFF male 1st Division League, while PSV Wellingara crowned champions in the 2nd Division League.
In the Women’s League category, Red Scorpions crowned champions in the Women’s 1st Division League, while Jeshwang United won the Women’s 2nd Division League.
