Police officers complete investigation and prosecution training

Policemen and women across the country have recently completed training on investigation, prosecution of cases involving children, and interview techniques.

“More than 60 officers drawn from the Gender and Child Welfare, Legal Affairs and Prosecution, Charge Office, and Criminal Investigation Units of the Gambia Police Force recently completed an intensive training on Investigation, Interviewing Techniques, Evidence gathering, and Legal Framework for the successful prosecution of cases involving children, courtesy of UNICEF Gambia,” Police said.

“The training which started in the KM region was officially opened at the GPFCCU conference hall in Kanifing and was graced by ACP Foday Balajo, Deputy Police Commissioner in KM, Mr. Marcus of UNICEF, Superintendent Lamin Njie, and Superintendent Marie Tamba was the lead trainers of the program.

The training which will be rolled out in KM, West Coast, LRR and NBR is expected to equip personnel with the requisite knowledge and skills on the subject matter. We’ll bring you more information on the training as the team proceeds to the regions for continuation of this important activity,” Police added.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police West Coast Region PatehJallow called on the community of Sanyang and its surroundings to cooperate and support the police station to provide and render effective and efficient services to the community.

He added it “is an institution created by the constitution of The Republic of The Gambia with the view to protect lives and properties. The newly-built station will be a hybrid station that will perform the function of both the Police Intervention Unit and General Duty simultaneously operating to combat crimes within Sanyang and across the Kombo South coastal belt.

He extended gratitude to the Benefactor Aboubacarr Jawara, the alkalo of Sanyang Village, Councillor of Sanyang ward, The VDC, Rtd ASP Haruna Bojang, the gallant officers, and other security forces for their role in the maintenance of peace and security in the area.
