The Serrekunda East Sports Development Organisation (SESDO) will today, on Friday, play their Nawettan curtain raiser (Super Cup) final between league champions DBO FC (formerly Manchester United) and Bantaba FC.
The Serrekunda East Super Cup final which is named under Hon. Omar Jallow alias OJ Jallow is will be played at the Serrekunda East Park at 4:30pm
DBO became champions of the league after beating Bijankerr FC of Bundung in the 2019 final in a post-match shootout.
Meanwhile, Uprising FC, were the knockout champions in 2019 after defeating Bantaba FC, but were relegated following their defeat in the playoff to Wah Sa Halat on post-match penalties.
Therefore, according to the Article 6 of the SESDO 2019 rules and regulations, states that if the knockout champions happen to be relegated, the runners-up shall play the Super Cup final.
Bantaba FC who were the runners-up in 2019 will play the curtain raiser final as stated in the rules and regulations.
The winner of this year’s Super Cup final will be awarded a giant trophy, medals and cash prize of D20, 000, while the runners-up will be given a consolation prize of D15, 000 respectively.
As tradition, each of the two teams will be given a set of jerseys for the final.
Today’s final is set to be attended by the Youth and Sports Minister, Bakary Badjie, Lord Mayor KMC Talib Ahmed Bensouda, GFF President Lamin Kaba Bajo, Honorable National Assembly Members, Councilors, Head of Government, Private Institution, and other individuals.
