Amadou Sima, a 22-year-old man living at Farato village, West Coast Region is facing a trial for willfully damaging a vehicle of a man called Yusupha Touray with sugar.
This is contrary to section 312 (6) (g) of the Criminal Code Cap 10:01 Volume 3.
He is arraigned before the Brikama Magistrates’ Court presided over Principal Magistrate Isatou Dabo.
When his case was called on Thursday, 1st September 2022 he pleaded not guilty of the offense pressed against him.
According to the particulars of offence filed before the court, Amadou Sima on or about the 15th July 2022 at Busumbala Village, West Coast Region in the Republic of the Gambia, willfully and unlawfully put sugar in a motor vehicle tank mark Sprinter, registration number WCR 2638A valued D250,000 being the property of Yusupha Touray thereby committed an offence.
The complainant, Yusupha Touray, the owner of the alleged damaged 14 seaters vehicle explained that he gave his vehicle with the registration plate number WCR 2638A to the accused, Amadou Sima to drive for commercial purpose. He said after a long period of time he took the vehicle from him but he later gave the vehicle back to him (the accused) which resulted to a serious damage.
“I was reliably informed by a man called Amadou Gibba, the apprentice of the accused, that Amadou Sima put a hand-full of sugar into the tank of my vehicle,” Yusupha Touray narrated.
According to him during the narration, he said the case was reported at Brikama Police Station after he received the information about the condition of his vehicle. And that he later forwarded the case to BrikamavKabbafita Police Station after he found the accused, Amadou Sima, within Brikama Kabbafita community where pictures of my damaged vehicle were taken after the mechanic’s confirmation of the presence of sugar in the tank of the vehicle.
The case was adjourned to the 13th September 2022 for the continuation at 11:00 am.
