The Vice President of The Gambia, His Excellency Badara A. Joof on Tuesday, 6th September 2022 received the management team of the Trust Bank Limited led by Njilan Senghore, the Managing Director of the bank, at his office in State House.

The bank management team led by Njilan Senghore presented a cheque for D1million to the Vice President as part of the bank’s Social Corporate Responsibilities (SCR) to complement the government’s disaster relief efforts.

MD Senghore said the contribution is a sign of giving a token to the National Disaster Management Agency through the office of the Vice President for onward transmission to the agency.

She stated that the negative impact of the disaster is showing that the impact of climate change is real. She also opined that people have to be aware of their environments, such as the waterways, indiscriminate dumping, and other related activities.

She noted that a few weeks ago they came to the office of the Vice President to show their sympathy for what happened during the last floods that caused the lost of properties and valuable items.

She highlighted that Trust Bank is a Gambia bank with almost 400 staff of which only one is a non-Gambian. “On behalf of my staff, shareholders and customers we extend this token to NDMA through the Vice President’s Office,” said MD Senghore.

His Excellency Badara A. Joof, the Vice President thanked the Bank for its support towards the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA). He said this is not a token amount, but a huge amount.

He pointed out that climate change is real as a result of this he called for a retreat to look at the NDMA policy for a better strategy to address the disaster.

He said this is a collective decision and the Trust Bank has proven that they are working collectively. HE Joof shared words of wisdom with the Trust Bank team, especially, for coming together to assist the Gambian people.

Dawda L Ceesay, the Permanent Secretary at the Office of the Vice President disclosed this is not the first time the Trust Bank complementing the NDMA’s effort through the government.
