Awa Sowe, head coach of Trust Academy has hailed the performance of her players during the final of the first-ever Kanifing Municipality Regional Association (KMRFA) Women’s Third Division league.
Trust Academy defeated Darboe’s Academy 1-0 during a game at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium on Sunday.
Ondabedje Rejoice scored the only goal in the match in the 65th minute for the Nema Kunkung-based team.
“I’m very happy for the performance of my girls. I was expecting a win because of what I put into my girls. I know that we are going to win the final,” said Coach Awa Sowe during an interview with reporters.
She added that preparation will start soonest for the second tier of Gambia Football Federation league.
“It’s a great achievement especially for me because I was given the team in less than a year. I had a target after I signed for them which is qualify the team to the GFF Women’s Second Division which I now achieved.,” she emphasized
According to her, the target now is to qualify to the GFF Women’s 1st Division League, adding that Nema is a remote area that is full of talents.
“Qualifying to the GFF Women’s 1st Division League is a very difficult task but is achievable,” she noted.
