Sadibou Kamaso, former Gambia Football Federation (GFF) presidency aspirant, who is also the leader of Team Restore Confidence, has congratulated the Gambia U-20 team for their laudable effort during the just-concluded WAFU Zone A championship held in Mauritania.
The Young Scorpions side (Gambia U-20) finished as runners-up in the tournament after being defeated 1-0 by the Young Lions of Teranga (Senegal U-20) during the final played at the Cheikha Ould Boidiya Stadium last weekend.
The Gambia defeated Cape Verde 2-0 in their first match, trashed Liberia 4 -1 in their second match, drew their third match against Guinea and got beaten by Senegal in their fourth and final Group B match.
The U-20 boys knocked Mali out in the semi-finals to clash with Senegal in the final but were, however, beaten again for the second time in the competition by Senegal, which ensured Senegal are crown champions of the sub-regional competition.
However, Kamaso wrote on his official Facebook page that: “Heads up boys.”
“You have proved to the whole world that you did not go down without a fight. Since you kicked-off this competition, you’ve played your hearts out and that is something to be proud of.”
“Your resilience and character of the game must be commended. I salute your doggedness, commitment and fighting spirit.”
“I also commend the technical team for a job well executed. We are proud,” he concluded.
