The Gambia Volleyball Federation (GVBF) and United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two countries in a ceremony held in the Netherlands.
The MoU will aim to develop volleyball, exchange programmes, use of Information Technology, coaches and referees programmes, management programmes, athletes development, National teams training camps, development of women teams, study tours and beach volleyball activities amongst others.
“We have chosen The Gambia for the simplest reasons. The Gambia is by far one of the fastest growing National Federation in volleyball in Africa, and we have seen their recent exploits in Africa,” said UAE president Abdullah Juma Aldermaki.
For his part, Bai Dodou Jallow, president, Gambia Volleyball Federation expressed delight after the major development, adding that the comprehensive signing of the MoU aimed to develop volleyball and beach volleyball in the two countries.
“This is historic and is a very proud moment for me. Thank you everyone for making this day possible,” he added
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is on a 4-year initial agreement, subject to renewal after the period.
