The Gambia Wrestling Association (GWA) has on Monday 26th September 2022, declared its 2022/2023 wrestling season open.
This development was made following the successful hosting of the association’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) held last Saturday, at the PIA Hall in Bakau.
After the announcement of the opening of the wrestling season, GWA calls on wrestling clubs, wrestlers, managers, coaches and promoters to renew or register their licenses through the association’s GTBank account 207405648110.
“Club forms can be collected at the GWA office at the stadium. Clubs must collect, fill and return their forms before being recognised as an existing club,” said The Gambia Wrestling Association in a statement.
The association further said that wrestlers must also provide a medical certificate which shows they are fit and healthy to practice the sport before they are issued with a license.
According to the GWA, club license amount is D1, 000; manager’s license is D300; coaches license is D300; promoters license for boxing is D5, 000 and freestyle is D2, 000 respectively.
They added that the wrestler’s license for boxing is D500 and freestyle is D250.
The association under the leadership of Modou Faye Cham assured all stakeholders of their continued commitment and dedication to the betterment of the sports.
