Teenager from Sinchu Alagie Convicted and Fined for Assault

The Brusubi Magistrates’ Court presided over by Principal Magistrate Muhammed Krubally has convicted and sentenced teenager (name withheld), a native of Sinchu Alagie to pay a fine of D2,500 for assaulting one Mariama Senghore on her body causing her serious bodily harm.

The 18-year-old convicted accused is facing four counts of offence to which he had pleaded not guilty to counts 1, 2, and 3, but pleaded guilty to court four.

The police prosecuting Officer Corporal 4422 Modou Jebel Sallah plead to the court for the teenager (name withheld) who is the 5th accused,  to compensate Mariama Senghore for the pain she sustained during the incident.

At this juncture,  Magistrate Muhammed Krubally ordered the 5th accused to pay a fine of two thousand five hundred(D2500) Dalasi, and in default to spend one year in prison with compensation of ten thousand Dalasi (D10,000) to the victim, Mariama Senghore and in default of paying this will spend one year in prison.

Meanwhile, the 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6 accused persons namely Abdoulie Ndeer, Modou Jarju, Alagie Njie, Matarr Ndeer, and Wurry Kanteh all pleaded not guilty against the four counts leveled against them.

According to the particular of their offence the 6th accused persons namely Abdoulie Ndeer, Alagie Njie, Matarr Ndee, (the teenager) ,Wurry Kanteh and Modou Jarju at Sinchu Alagie Village jointly conspired felony, assaulted one Mariama Senghore causing her serious bodily harm and all the accused stole the properties of Fatou Jatta valued sixty thousand and two hundred Dalasi (D60,200).

However, the case has been adjourned to 12th December 2022 for PW1 to give testimony of the case. Police prosecuting Officer Corporal Modou Jebel Sallah represented I.G.P.
