Modou Lamin Sabally a native of Brikama Mesira village who was accused of burglary on Wednesday has accused Inspector Kemo Y. Manneh, a Police prosecutor of taking bribery with an attempt to withdraw his case from the court before Magistrate Peter Adoh Che at the Brikama Magistrates’ Court.
According to Modou, Lamin Sabally during his first appearance in his second case before the court alleged that Inspector Kemo Y. Manneh, one of the police prosecuting officers, received two thousand five hundred dalasis on two occasions from him and his wife in order for him to recuse himself from his other case before the court.
However, the principal Magistrate Isatou Dabo on Wednesday proved that the accused Modou Lamin Sabally was absent during the court hearings before magistrate Peter Adoh Che on three occasions that made Inspector Kemo Y. Manneh, the police prosecuting officer on the 28th of October to order his bench warrant.
The accused, Modou Lamin Sabally, denied the second charge filed before the court.
However, Inspector Kemo Y. Manneh pleaded with the court to reject his bail due to his irregularity during his first ongoing case, noting that he might hinder the police officer in establishing facts before the court.
At this juncture the presiding Magistrate Isatou Dabou Urged the police prosecutor to avoid direct communication with remand prisoners, noting that they should stick to their work. The case was adjourned to the 1st of November 2022.
Meanwhile, the charge filed before the court alleged that Modou Lamin Sabally on the 20th October 2022 at Brikama Kabafita in the West Coast Region of the Republic of the Gambia broke into and entered the house of Modou Lamin Barrow from the hour of 3 am to 4 am with the intent to commit a felony.
