A score of craft market vendors have raised frustration and asked for an extension of license by The Gambia Tourism Board to every two years or reduce it as the tourist season begins with limited expectations due to the Russia-Ukraine war among other factors.
Amie Cham, a vendor said the price for a shop per person cost D1,500 which he said is quite expensive considering the duration of the season which many couldn’t afford.
She said the Gambia Tourism Board should understand the situation in the Gambia in terms of tourism which she said is just six months and the industry still experiences setbacks noting that Covid-19 was a major challenge and now the Ukraine-Russia war is also undermining all sectors globally.
Other vendors, Mariama Sanneh and Yassin Senghore also raised a similar issue and called on the GTBoard to consider their plights.
