The community of Casa Kunda in the West Coast Region on Tuesday 22nd November 2022 opened a new Quranic School. The school was funded by IHHNL based in the Netherlands through CHRO –Gambia. The construction works were coordinated and supervised by the country director CHRO-Gambia.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by IHHNL representatives headed by Huseyin Gunduz, representatives from the Gambia Supreme Council, members of CHRO-Gambia, and the village elders led by the Alkali.
In his welcoming remarks, Alkali of Casa-Kunda Cherno S. Sabally expressed total appreciation for themagnificent gesture. He cited the importance of having a quranic school in his community which he said cannot be overemphasized.
He, therefore, thanked and praised the donors through CHRO-Gambia under the leadership of the National director Musa Jallow. He acknowledged the efforts of the National coordinator CHRO-Gambia for making this event into reality.
Also speaking the national coordinator CHRO-Gambia Musa Jallow reminded the community of Casa-Kunda that the project was possible due to the support of IHHNL Netherlands.
He recounted many projects that IHHNL has been supporting in the Gambia. He revealed that a lot of millions of dalasi have been put into this project. He further stated that the school hasa state of the earth facilities which will go a long way to boost access to quality education.
He also disclosed that the school target one hundred children within Casa-Kunda and its Catchment areas.
Mr. Jallow also advised the community of casa-Kunda to ensure the sustainability of the school.
For his part, Mr. Darboe representative from the Gambia Supreme Islamic Council, hailed the donors for these laudable initiatives, while expounding on the significance of the Quranic school which he said cannot be underestimated.
Headvised the parents to enroll their children in the school to learn the teaching of Islam and commended the coordinator of CHRO-Gambia Musa Jallow for his love and heart for the country.
Landing Yusuf Gassama CHRO- board member also spoke on the importance of knowledge in transforming lives and urged them to apply the knowledge they gained
Kalilu Sanyang chairman of the Village Development committee Casa-Kunda returned gratitude and appreciation to the donors for making the project into reality. He went on to thank the community of Casa-Kunda for allocating the land for the project, noting that the sustainability of the school depends on the community. Other speakers include Saja Badjie who also expressed a similar sentiment.
