YKN presents items worth over D300,000 to Babylon Comprehensive School 

Ya Kumba’s Nest (YKN), a newly founded local charitable foundation, on Saturday, 26th November 2022, presented fifty pieces of furniture and two solar panels worth more than D330, 000 to Babylon Comprehensive School located in Lamin village, West Coast Region.

Officials of the Charity Foundation and the school authorities disclosed that the materials presented will go a long way in easing the seating arrangements of students as well as provide enough power that will generate electricity for the school, especially for its borehole water supply system.

They disclosed that the cost of the furniture and desks amounted to D207,400, while the solar panels and wires earmarked for the school’s borehole cost D122,400.

Ya Kumba Sarr, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Ya Kumba Nest said the foundation provided the gesture to the school following a request from the school management.

She said the gesture aimed to enhance development in the school as well as ensure effective and efficient teaching and learning in the school.

CEO Sarr urged the school management to use the donated material judiciously while commending the staff of the foundation for their hard work while she thanked partners for supporting the foundation in this generous gesture.

Bai Ensa Touray, principal of Babylon Comprehensive School expressed delight towards the donated items saying it will go a long way in helping the school, most especially the students.

Kumba Jassey, President of the Parent and Teachers Association (PTA) of Babylon Comprehensive School commended the foundation for providing such a gesture to the school. “The school needs the donated item and we are grateful to Ya Kumba’s Nest for the timely gesture,” she said with a smiling face.

Yusupha Gomez, Secretary General of Lamin Village Development Committee (VDC) also acting as an advisor to Ya Kumba’s Nest Foundation commended the American Embassy for providing D300, 000, funding, noting that the support will greatly enhance the performance of the school that has been performing greatly in both GABECE and WAEC examinations. Gomez a veteran public servant assured that the foundation will continue supporting the school to achieve its development aspirations.
