Kaba Koto LBS wins ActionAid Inter School Football Competition

Kaba Koto Lower Basic School on Sunday won Kerr Chebou Lower Basic School in the final match of the ActionAid International The Gambia Juffureh Office competition organized between 16 lower basic schools within intervention schools in the North Bank Region.

The final match of the competition played at the Prince Lower Basic School in Upper Nuimi of the region formed part of the Sponsorship programme of ActionAid International with the Theme: Sponsor a Child to Change lives.

However, the well-played match ended in a penalty shootout between the two schools.

The prizes for the winners are cash and in their ever first competition Kaba Koto Lower Basic School emerged as the winner and received D6000, Kerr Chebou came second to receive D5000 and 3rd cash prize of D4000 was received by Kerr Demba Holley Lower Basic School while the consolation cash prizes of D2000 each were given to the remaining 13 participated schools.

Meanwhile, the Best Player of the tournament was Haruna Manneh, The Best Goalkeeper award went to Salifu Camara, Ismaila Camara bagged The Highest Goal Scorer of Kaba Koto and all received D2000 together with Ismaila Kone the lead scorer of Kerr Demba Holley Lower Basic School.

Kebba O Njie and Arokey Bass Head Teacher’s of Passy Chally and Kerr Chebou Lower Basic Schools described the Inter Schools Competition as significant in complementing the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (MoBSE) in promoting grassroots football and the educational development of children.

 

The competition helped students and teachers to know each other and network to promote football. The school authorities noted that ActionAid support in education contributed to improving learning and performance.

However, they as well used the occasion to launch more support to organise debate and quiz competitions which would help students academically.

Omar Tabali of Kerr Chebou and MomodouBambaKaba Koto Sport Coordinator, Saikou Darboe Local Rights Program Manager at Juffureh, Saikou F Bah Program Coordinator, Ousainou Jallow, and Chairman of Upper Nuimi Football Association all hailed the organizer of the competition.
