The Susso Kunda family on Wednesday held a press conference to brief the press on the launching of the band’s upcoming album on January 5th at Besco Garden. Wuli Band is a family band established in 2009 with the aim of showcasing culture and unity through music.
Jali Hammay Saho who is the lead vocalist and the kora player of the family band gave a brief history of the band which he said has been in the music industry for 18 years and is about to launch its first album since it started performing. The said album which he said is a double album called “Batufaal” meaning (Patron) and “Kanoo” (Love) consist of 22 tracks while each album contains 11 tracks.
The lead vocal also raised challenges confronting the band which include studio and financial constraints to enable them to perform to expectation.
“We also have challenges along the way because to have a helping hand in The Gambia is not easy, financially if we can have helped the songs will all be a clip right away. All the expenditure is from our pocket, so if we can also have a vehicle to use as transportation that will be very appreciated, he appealed
“I gave the name of the band which is Wuli Band because we are from Wuli that is the reason I named the band after our origin place ” he concluded.
