The Nation Paralympics Committee recently received training equipment from the Inter Party Committee through the Government of the People’s Republic of China supporting athletes with disabilities.
The items were sponsored by World Para Powerlifting and it came through the IPC Powerlifting grant for the Zhangkong Barbell Company in China. Speaking during the presentation of the items at the Independence Stadium in Bakau , Zhou Nyingyu , Political Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission underscored the role of Paralympics sports in the promoting of wellbeing of persons with disabilities which he said cannot be overemphasised.
He emphasised the role of his government to the cause of helping persons with disabilities in the areas of sports, noting that his government has incorporated programmes as national plans for socio-economic wellbeing of persons with disabilities as part of National Human Rights Action Plan. Marcel Mendy, the Executive Director of National Sport Council also expounded on the importance of the donated items in the areas of sports.
Mendy pointed out that the items are not only meant for the Paralympics Committee but for the whole country which the committee represents.
Mr. Mendy commended the sponsors for the gesture and assured that the items will be taken care of for the intended purpose.
