The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat in Jam Nyado, Senegal held its 10th Jalsa Salana (Annual Convention) last week in Senegal.
The Jalsa aims to train members and also to bring them closer to the Almighty Allah.
This year’s convergence was the 10th of its kind and over two thousand delegates attended across the country.
Maulana Nasir Ahmad Sidhu Amir, missionary in charge of Senegal, said: The first Jalsa Salana was conducted during the time of the Holy founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad ( May Allah have mercy on Him) in 1891.
He also said the first Jalsa Salana in Senegal was convened in 2012 and has attracted 360 participants.
According to Amir, only 75 people attended that historic Jalsa and after 131 years since then, the Jalsa has been a success story across every part of the world of which Senegal is no exception.
“Our main focus as missionaries is to bring the whole world under the unity of Islam. This he said, is the main purpose of the promised messiah” he noted
Amir frowned at those people who said there are no Ahmadis in Senegal. “We have over 52,000 members and 600 sub Jamaats. We built 276 mosque, 1 hospital, 3 schools, and one Arabic madrassa.”
Ahmadiyya, Amir Nasir Ahmad Sidhu went on to say they face no challenges. “We only spread the message with peace and love some accept but even if they don’t peace remains.”
He highlighted that they have 76 local and central missionaries and Humanity first and IAAA all in existence due to the hard work of the Jama’at.
Meanwhile, he said, Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat was founded in 1889 by Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad in Qadian, India who was born in 1835 and died in 1908, and succeeded by Khilafat and Mirza Masroor Ahmad is the fifth and current successor of the promised messiah and Imam Mahdi.
