A report from the Shelter for Children at Bakoteh had painted a grim picture of the state of affairs there.
The report that children have been abandoned and that staff had to bend over backwards to feed them from their own pockets could be an indictment to the government if it turns out to be true.
Without squandering any time, the relevant authorities must get down to the task of unearthing the truth about this report of child abandonment, neglect and abuse at an institution where it’s expected they’ll get the best of care.
It’s heartrending to read about the difficult condition that children were reportedly living under at the centre.
Investigation must follow this report and if found factual, heads must roll.
If found to be true, this could so far be the biggest child abuse case in the country in 2023.
Consequently, the matter should not be treated with kid’s gloves.
