Sanyang has been crowned champions of the West Coast Regional championship after defeating Brikama in a penalty shootout following a 2-all draw at the Brikama Box-Bar Mini Stadium on Sunday.
Modou Lamin Ndow opened the score line in the 44th minute of the game for Brikama and Lamin Tamba scored fascinating equalizing goal after beating the Brikama goalkeeper in the 52 minutes of the game.
Abdoulie Jallow doubled the lead for the ‘Sateba’ boys of Brikama in the 75 minutes before Abdoulie Sima of Sanyang tallied the scores in the 84th minute of the game which led to a penalty shootout.
Sanyang was given a giant trophy, gold medals, and a cash prize of D45, 000 as winners while Brikama was given silver medals and a cash prize of D35,00.
Speaking to journalists after the game Sedia Bojang, the head coach of Sanyang in his delight said that he was familiar with the tactics against Brikama.
”I am not surprised by winning the West Coast Zonal, we have prepared for this victory’ ‘he said.
For his part, Sherriff Mankajang, the head coach of Brikama said that his team was not lucky to win, noting that his players deviated from the game plan and they also failed to utilize their chances.
