Network of Women in The Arts to unveil Women Arts Exhibition and Excellence Awards

In commemorating this year’s International Women’s Day 2023, the Network of Women in The Arts in collaboration with the National Centre for Arts and Culture is set to hold the Women Art Exhibition and Women of Excellence in The Art Award to celebrate the day.

The All Women Arts Exhibition is scheduled for the 8th to 11th of March 2023 in line with the celebration, the Network will host its first edition of the Women of Excellence in The Arts Award to recognize and celebrate women that have immensely contributed to the development of the arts over the years.

Discussing the event, Matty Jobe of the National Centre for Arts and Culture (NCAC) explained that the exhibition will feature women in fashion, handicrafts, visual arts, films, and so on.

The event according to her, will be witnessed by the First Lady of The Gambia, Her Excellency Madam Fatoumatta Bah Barrow who is the Chief Guest of Honor while Mayoress Rohey Malick Lowe of Banjul is the Grand Patronage.

Also, the event hopes to draw government attention to the need and yearning of women in the arts by creating a comfortable environment for women in the arts to network, build their capacity, and provide platforms to exhibit and showcase their talents.

“Our major partner in this is Alliance Francaise, Banjul” Matty Jobe disclosed.

The Network of Women in The Arts was launched in June 2022 to create and promote creative experiences for women artists via partnerships with the mission of providing leadership advocacy, capacity, building, and connections among Gambian women.
