Two teenagers convicted of felony and stealing

Two teenagers (2nd and 3rd accused) have been convicted and sentenced to five and two years imprisonment with hard labour respectively for felony and stealing the motorbike of Mamadou Diana Baldeh’s motorbike worth D55,000.00.

 

Before Magistrate Fatou Darboe of Brikama Magistrates’ Court handling  

over his judgment, the police prosecution, Sub Inspector Louis Gomez, urged the court not to have any mercy on one of the teenagers because he was in past convicted of a felony and stealing by a Magistrate at the Brikama Magistrates’ Court on the 15th November 2022 with a fine of D5000 and in default to serve two years imprisonment.

 

He added that the 3rd convict is a first-time offender.

 

Magistrate Fatou Darboe, therefore, convicted both the second and third accused according to their charges by sentencing the second accused to three years imprisonment on count one and two years on count 2 with hard labour while the third accused is sentenced to one-year imprisonment on count one and another one year on count two with hard labour.

 

Both the sentences of the 2nd and the 3rd convict shall run consecutively, magistrate F Darboe rules.

 

The presiding Magistrate went on to grant the 1st accused a bail of D55,000 with one Gambian surety who will deposit its national identity card at the court while she later adjourned the matter to the 6th February 2023 for hearing.

 

According to the particular case on the Eve of the New year at Old Yundum in West Coast Region of the Republic of the Gambia, the first accused stole one blue tv motorbike with registration number MC KM 5356C valued at D55,000.00, property of e Momodou Diana Baldeh.
