Ebou Mala Children Charity foundation (EMCCF) on Wednesday launched a reusable Menstrual Sanitary Pad project in the Gambia, held at Talllinding Community Centre.
Speaking at the event, Fatou Sanyang, a representative of the Regional Health Director, said the launch of Reusable Menstrual Sanitary Pads in the Gambia came at the right time and it will help many schools, girls, and the entire country.
The Regional Coordinator also highlighted the importance of Reusable Menstrual Pads, saying pads are hygienic, healthy, and comfortable during the menstruation period because it’s not plastic which will cause more heat.
She advised girls to change their menstrual pads regularly during their menstruation period, keep their genital area clean by washing it with water and visit health centers when they cannot control their menstruation.
Fatou Bah, the chairperson of EMCCF, stated that the association was established in The Gambia in 2017, and their main aim is to complement government efforts and order exciting charity NGOs and organizations to support the development of the country including the health care service and the schools.
“We are not limited to one sector and region or one side in the country. We also support the Fire Rescue department and police. I believe that partnership is important in everything we do to achieve our dream,” she said.
Councilor Karamo Ceesay, who also spoke at the event, said they are not politicking and they aim to provide good health care and education in the schools and also assist needy families across the country.
“Ebou Mala Children Charity Foundation with the partnership of National Police Aids Charity said that their contribution didn’t stop only at Tallinding Ward but the entire six regions in the country in different capacities,” he said
