The Minister of Youth and Sports Honorable Bakary Y. Badjie, Gambia Football Federation President Mr. Lamin Kaba Bajo, Executive Director of the National Sports Council, Mr. Marcel Mendy, DPS Musa Mbye and members of both the GFF Executive, GFF secretariat as well as members of the Sports Ministry on Tuesday bid farewell to Young Scorpions and hand over the National flag to Captains Alagie Saine.
The team will be representing the Gambia at TotalEnergies U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt
GFF Mr. . Lamin Kaba Bajo commended the players and staff for what he described as a great accomplishment citing the team’s successes over the years.
He further emphasized the great relationship his office continues to have with the Government through the Youth and Sports Ministry while assuring his continued commitment to the support of grassroots football for national development.
Honorable Minister, Bakary Y. Badjie expressed delight over the achievements of the National teams and assured that his ministry and the Government will continue to support football in collaboration with the Football House. While wishing them good luck, the Minister advised the team to be disciplined at all times and be good ambassadors of the Nation as they receive the National flag.
Receiving the National Flag on behalf of the team, Team Captains Alagie Saine and Ba Lamin Sowe both expressed delight for being motivated as they received their allowances earlier today and this will motivate them throughout the tournament. Both captains assured the authority and the public of bringing glory back to the Gambia.
The meeting was chaired by the General Secretary of the Gambia Football Federation Mr. Lamin Jassey.
