In a bid to expose the intention of the alleged coup plotters in a highly speculated coup plot against the government of Adama Barrow, the state counsels presented a third witness who exposed the ringleader’s operational plan at the Banjul High Court before Justice Basiru VP. Mahoney.
PW3, Captain Mamat Jobe of Farafenni Military Barracks during his testimony revealed that Lance Corporal Sanna Fadera went to his house at Farato Village where he pleaded with him to join his plot to overthrow the Barrow government saying he aimed to salvage the country from difficulties.
PW3 revealed that he received the operational plan of the alleged coup plotters from the ringleader, Lance Corporal Sanna Fadera, which made him burdened by the peace and security of the state, causing him to be sleepless and distracted during his classes at the University of The Gambia.
” This operational plan of the alleged coup plotters prompted me to report the matter to the state military intelligence; Major Lamin Njie, Major Alagie Njie, and Captain Momodou Wally to avert this national threat against lives and properties. However, the ringleader Lance Corporal Sanna Fadera persisted in his plan to perform sacrifice at Bajinka Village with the intention of travelling to Mali,” he recalled.
”I called Lance Corporal Sanna Fadera on their cellphone in the presence of Major Lamin Njie, Major Alagie Njie, and Captain Momodou Wally where his intention of overthrowing the present government was known which led to his arrest ”, PW3 pointed out.
Under cross-examination by Defense Counsel, Lamin LS Camara, the witness denied any involvement in the alleged coup.
