Mandinari Youths and Sport Association (MYSA) held their 2023 football final at the Mandinari football field on the 19th February, 2023.
The final attracted over hundredths of spectators who unanimously gathered to witness the unquestionable football competition as Babylon United and Karantaba United were the finalist.
As the long awaited final kicked off ,it turned very impossible for one team to punish his opponent but after 25th minutes of not testing each other’s net, the 30th minute broke the history when the situation turned upside down as Ba Ansu Marreh alias Dybala received a well push, controlled and calculated ball from the midfielders and eventually sent a powerful short accompanied by a brace which was sent out of the 18 yard box which confused the goal keeper as he was unable to intercept the ball from touching the net of Babylon.
In couple minutes, the game proceeded with difference as Babylon intended to equalize their opponents in the 34th minute as Landing Jatta calculated and dribbled pass defenders at the left corner of the field and gave it to Papa Lai Sanneh who made Babylon United felt that they can win the final.
The game proceeded by a balance performance from both sides as they both wanted to be crown victorious of Mandinari football tournament 2023 which was never possible as the sport committee postponed the game after the 90minutes could not decide the winner as it ended 1/1. The final rescheduled for 26th February, 2023 at 5pm.
It could be recalled that Babylon won Mandinari leagues twice in a row in 2020|2021 and started this year’s league cup win against underdogs Veteran Keflavik. Meanwhile, Karantaba United this is their first time joining and made it to the final. karantaba had a very slow start in the league coming fourth place in group A and won only one match against the tournaments underdogs Veteran Keflavik.
This year Mandinari’s tournament covered 65 matches,96 goals scored,6 red cards ,148 yellow cards compared to last season with 124 goals scored,12 red cards and 181 yellow cards.
