Cannabis farmer bags 10 years imprisonment with a fine of D1,050,000

 Regional Magistrate Anna O Mendy of the Farafenni Magistrate Court in the North Bank Region has recently sentenced Muhammed Beye to 10 years imprisonment for farming cannabis and having in his possession cannabis.

Muhammed Beye, a farmer of cannabis at Kerr Kartim Village, North Bank Region (NBR) was caught with 2 kilograms and 950 grams of cannabis. And at the court, he pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Magistrate Anna O. Mendy ordered for the bundles, parcels, and cannabis-grown farm of Muhammed Beye to be destroyed by the State after a thirty days appeal period.

 Presenting her judgment, Magistrate Anna O.Mendy said, ”Indeed the convict, Muhammed Beye, is very remorseful, especially about his late Father, wife, children, and his old mother.” 

”I hereby sentence Muhammed Beye to ten years imprisonment with a fine of D1, 050,000 in default to serve fifteen years imprisonment,” she ruled.
